-
Singaporean shipbuilder Jurong Shipyard, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine, has secured a letter of intent (LOI) for a semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV) from Dutch owner Heerema Offshore Services, a subsidiary of Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC). The shipowner claims it is to be the world’s largest crane vessel. It will have an overall length of 214 m, width of 97.5m and two cranes with a lifting capacity of 10,000 tonnes each, which will provide heavy lifting capacity for use in the installation and removal of offshore facilities and it can also be used for the installation of subsea structures, foundations, moorings, and floating structures in deep water. The NSCV will be self-propelled with a transit speed of 10 kt and power for the vessel will be generated by dual fuel engines.
